I use win2000 professional.
I would like to install oracle server product.
When I clicked the setup.exe to install Oracle 8i,no respond. Even after I try it for many times.
When I install oracle 7, it showed these error message during the installation: no administrator privilege.
But I use administrator to logon win2000!
Why,please help me.

is that a p4 machine? if so.
1. Copy the entire CD to a temp directory in Harddisk
2. look for the filename symcjit.dll.
3. Rename each copy of the symcjit.dll to symcjit.old.
4. Run the setup.exe from the Harddisk.

Are you using Pentium 4? If so, I may have the answer for you. Oracle 8i and Pentium 4 don't play well together. Actually, it is a problem with Symantecs JIT and Pentium IVs.

This is what I did to get Oracle 8i to load on my 2000 machines.

Copy the install information to the hard drive of your computer.

At the toplevl dirstageComponentsoracle.swd.jre1.1.7.301DataFilesExpandedjrewin32binsymcjit.dll

Rename the symcjit.dll to something else, anything so that the program can't find it. Then run the install.

This worked for our machines. Hopefully, this will help.
