Hi,
We have a oracle server (8.1.7) running on solaris 8 on the internet. No firewall, all ports open (including 1521). We tried to connect to it from an oracle client (8.1.7) from the internet and I can connect using sqlplus and it works like a charm. However Out of 4 clients we have on different office locations, only 1 client is able to connect. That's what we are not able to undertstand. All these client locations, do not have any firewall either. The server is on the internet (fully open) itself does not have any restrictions.
Following is the entry in tnsnams.ora:

proddb.world =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 163.121.245.41)(PORT = 1521))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = proddb1)
)
)

Following is the error we get while using sqlplus or odbc.

ORA-12545 - Connection failed because target host or object does not exist

We use the actual ip itself instead of the server name. Also I even tried renaming sqlnet.ora. Same error. Only 1 8.1.7 client works from one of our office locations. Two other 8.1.7 clients do not work, 9.0.3, 8.1.6 clients also does not work. Any help will be great.
BTW, tnsping works. My e-mail is indengr@yahoo.com.

Thanks
