Hi,

My Oracle Server on W2K is 8.1.6.0.0, and I'd like to apply the latest patch onto it.
How can I upgrade the current release to the latest one?

Thanks.

You are applying the patch so get it from Metalink.

1. Shutdown all databases.
2. Take a cold backup of the system (as deemed necessary)
3. Apply the patch.
4. When complete, start the database.
5. Fire up SQLPlus and it should tell you the version of Oracle you have. It should specifically say '8.1.6.3.6'. Or run the query

SQL> select version from v$instance;

Cheers.
