Aside from cost which is obvious, let's just talk
strictly from a tech perspective in terms of
- support (both from Ora and 3rd party vendors)
- performance
- scalability (high vol transaction)
- clustering/failover/high avail

which config would you run?

If you were an experienced dba, would you run your Oracle on Linux supporting medium sized DB (about 50-100 Gig),
quite a bit of BLOBs, high volume web based/J2EE
ASP application

Or would you run it on Solaris?

we are planning a port from Oracle/Win2K over to
one of the unix-es platform and hence the question.
