I am trying to install the 10g. the very first I am getting an error....
"Thrown when IP address of host account can not be determined"....
Where I checked using ipconfig.... everything looks good.
I did the same install of 10g in another laptop... it installed great...
Does anyone have any idea what's the problem.
By the way I am installing this on windows XP.
Thanks in advance.
Ravi

I got answer to myself. I am sharing it as It may be helpful for others.
Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file. Add your host IP address, long hostname and alias as (example)
126.54.56.78 myhost.mydomain.com myhost
I guess this is because of dynamic IP address and didn't configure it during the OS installation
Thanks

Used : WINDOWS XP PRO
trying to install -> Oracle 10g
Hi, I done the installation until I came up with a problem about dhcp connection. The installer told me i needed to have Microsoft Loop adaptor enabled. I then reconfigured and installed the loop adaptor and i went to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file to add the following in host file.
IP_address hostname.domainname hostname
I know the IP address and host name for my PC however, i have a problem because I dunno what is my domain name. How do i know what's my PC domainname? How do i check it? Or do I have to create it myself?
Regards.
